ICS Workshop


Who can use the ICSworkshop

The ICT workshop service is available to University of  KwaZulu Natal staff.
 
 
The following services are offered to UKZN Staff`s PCs/ Laptops with a University Asset Number:

 
·   Installation of all ICS supported software on PCs/laptops.
·   Re-imaging of  PCs/Laptops.
·   Reloading of Operating system on laptops provided user has the OS and driver CDs.
·   Configuration of UKZN dialup service.
·   Hardware fault diagnostics.
 
 
The following services are offered to UKZN Staff`s Private PCs/Laptops:
 
·   Installation of Novell client and GroupWise provided the user has authorisation from the relevant HOD.
·   Installation of  UKZN Anti-Virus.
·   Installation of Office Suite provided user has purchased media kit from ICT.
 
 

UKZN staff can bring their laptop or desktop CPU and all appropriate software to the ICS workshop during normal business hours. As a precautionary measure, users are requested to backup their files, whenever possible, prior to bringing in a computer for repair. The workshop operates on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Repairs and installations can take anywhere from one to seven business days, depending upon the number and type of requests in the queue.  Users will be asked to fill in a job acceptance form.

The ICS workshop is located on the 3 main campuses:
 

Howard College  Room E560, 5th Floor, Shepstone Building
Westville  L Block, Room 001.
Pietermaritzburg  Room G8A, Ground Floor, Science Building

 
The ICT workshop is open Monday to Friday from 08:30 to 16:00.  It is closed between 13:00 & 14:00 and public holidays.
