CENTRALIZED PC AND LAPTOP MANAGEMENT UNIT

A dedicated unit is responsible for the central budgeting, procurement, deployment and disposal of desktops and notebooks at UKZN.  Advice and guidance is provided when such hardware is purchased outside this unit, e.g. from research funds.  The centralized management service minimises the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), ensures standardization of hardware and maximum benefits in terms of value adds.  This Unit is guided by policies and procedures laid out in the UKZN PC and Laptop Procurement & Deployment Policy.
